THE ORIGIN OF PLANTS
En photographiant avec assiduité les plantes de la ville, Victor Pérez s’est attaché à en évoquer l’étrange luminosité, à en témoigner la puissance d’abstraction et les potentialités d’animation.
Il ne s’agit pas d’un travail d’herboriste qui réaliserait une taxonomie visuelle neutre de la flore de ce jardin, mais bien plutôt d’une mise en lumière subjective convoquant l’imagination. En colorant feuilles, fleurs, branches, de flashs bleu et rose, Victor Pérez parvient à recréer des atmosphères qui rappellent le cinéma et la grâce de ses artifices.
Parfois originaires de pays « exotiques » mais comme progressivement apprivoisées par l’accoutumance du regard, la plastique que modèle Victor Pérez pour ces végétaux les renvoie à leur étrangeté « originelle », s’il en est une.

THE ORIGIN OF PLANTS
By photographing assiduously the plants and trees of the Parc de la Tête d’Or, Victor Pérez has brought out a strange luminosity which enlightens their power of abstraction and their potential for animation.
It is not a herbalist work who would create a visual taxonomy of the flora of this garden, but rather a subjective mise en lumière summoning the imagination. By coloring leaves, flowers, branches with blue and pink flashes, Victor has managed to recreate a mood that echoes the cinema and the charm of its artifices.
Sometimes native from "exotic" countries but gradually tamed by habituation of the gaze, the plastic model that Victor imposes to these plants aims to present their "authentic" strangeness, if there is one.
